Innovative vehicle design
Underwater IVD - The second Underwater IVD Competition will be held at Spring Lake High School’s beautiful aquatic center on March 28. Teams from around the state bring their ROV’s to compete in performance tests on speed and accuracy. Contact Barb Land at barb@cef-trek.org for details on becoming involved or to receive the competition parameters.
“The Innovative Vehicle Design program has given me the first hand experience towards engineering that I was looking for. I have had the ability to experience every aspect an engineer would, and am extremely grateful for it!” Senior, Bad Axe High School
Family of IVD Projects:
Innovative Vehicle Design (IVD) is a unique learning opportunity for students to be fully immersed in an engineering project from the ground up. High school students are teamed with classroom teachers and corporate project partners, lending engineering expertise, to create an electric vehicle with an innovative component. For IVD Rules and Regulations, contact Barb at barb@cef-trek.org or Karl at karl@cef-trek.org

IGNITING THE CREATIVE POTENTIAL OF STUDENTS TOWARD ENGINEERING, SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS
Aero IVD - This aerial project will kick off in the fall of 2009, with Performance Day in February 2010. We still have room for teams wishing to participate in this aviation based project--no building experience required, the vehicles are out-of-the-box ready.
Mini IVD Racing - With Nissan’s support, twelve high school teams from around the state are busy testing and beginning the conversion of a complex gas-powered RC Hobby monster truck into an electric vehicle, compiling performance data while incorporating innovation! Performance Day is April 29, 2010 at the Washtenaw Fairgrounds.
OHIO!!
Lunar IVD will kick off in the great state of Ohio. We are seeking out five high schools in Ohio to participate.
Lunar IVD - Lunar IVD will begin as a Rock Crawler style vehicle that must be pre-programmed to traverse a simulated lunar surface and its obstacles. The project will include a performance day with an additional “on the spot” re-programming challenge. Teams will receive a cash grant, rock crawler and curriculum materials.
For information on participating in any of these projects, please contact Barb Land for details. barb@cef-trek.org
